2007 Honda Civic Si SSB 11k as-is

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-28-2012 1:23 PM

Sunoco 88x31 Button

Built this car a couple years ago and have never been happy with the brakes. Car is faster than the Mustangs at Seattle and did 45s at RA with bad brakes and corded tires.

I have no doubts that it would be competitive but am committed to the Mustangs because they are easy to take care of.

Civic was damaged at Sebring last year and has been repaired and raced since then but still needs a scrape on the right side repaired and some paintwork on the nose and right side. I would just Maaco the whole car. It comes with some brake spares and extra uprights and hubs. Includes a set of TSX front brakes in case you desired to go enduro racing (they are a direct swap). It has 10 wheels total. HPD suspension.  No rain tires. Excellent weld in cage. No seat.

Car was built out of 30K mile insurance total (theft recovery) and is still on Copart BOS. Could be titled.

Somebody buy this car before I try to make it work yet again!

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-27-2012 11:43 AM

Car is located in Austin, TX.

MY2000 pre vin split. lightest non-CR s2000 available.
Silverstone Metallic

The Bad

230,000 miles.
exterior is not the greatest. a great 10 footer and a really great race car.
Front driver side fender replaced with another silverstone fender after being cut off. dime sized surface rust where fender meets bumper at wheel well.
driver side door has parking lot ding.
passenger rear fender has parking lot ding.
front of car and rear view mirrors are covered in chips.
Driver side of front bumper has crease at fake air inlet. looks like a cone mark.
Driver seat is tired. Leather is well worn, but not torn.
plastic window of top is scratched from the parcel tray, like most of them.
Windshield is chipped, but not cracked.
Carpet is worn on driverside.

The Good.

2nd owner

230,000 gentle miles. Car was owned by a guy with a 2hr each way daily commute. On the test drive, I hit vtec. He thought I broke something because he’d never been in it before. :)

Mechanically this car is in very very good condition.
engine is healthy, does not use much oil, shifts without grinds at redline.
No fluid leaks.
All control arms have been replaced with parts from a car with 20,000 miles. car aligns perfectly.
completely rebuilt brake system with OE parts. new pads. turned OE rotors.
valves adjusted
fresh fluids kept up to date religiously. OE filters only.
Interior is in excellent shape. Steering wheel is like new.
All lights are crystal clear.

Alignment: Front: -3* camber, zero toe. Rear: -3* camber, zero toe.

New Parts on car – All Honda
Timing chain tensioner.
serpetine belt tensioner and belt.
Axles rebuilt.
Honda Clutch and TO Bearing.
Valve cover gaskets

STR parts

Autox specific brake pads from carbotech matt. only set in the US.

Stainless brake lines.

ETX14 5 lb battery
TC Kline DA koni shocks. recently rebuilt and revalved by proparts for more low-speed rebound. Also have a set of race-valved yellows.
ground control sleeves
ground control rear upper shock mounts.
2.5″ springs (1000, 900, 850, 700 lb rates available). pick a pair.
Hardrace lower ball joints – car will almost get 4* camber up front, currently at 3, with 12.75″ ride height all the way around.
FSB: Gendron 1.25″ front sway bar with billet aluminum comptech sway bar mounts.
RSB: MX5 rear sway, RX8 bar, Stock bar
17×9 TR C3 wheels with rs3 tires @ 60%.

Car comes with assortment of spares including axles, and all stock parts except for the banged up junk stock wheels with bald tires that I didn’t want to replace so I sold them to a crackhead ricer who thought they’d look tight on his integra.

Car is better than driver. Was driven by Dan Pedroza at an Evo school and he was very complimentary of it. Lots of prep to be had with power mods, but it is very very balanced, easy to place, and fast. You will not go 300% faster with more expensive parts. This car works very well, it’s just not primary in my life right now.

You can’t go this fast in STR for less.

$10000 obo.

1992 V6 Miata (The KLiata ) — DD and SSM starter

Friday, April 20th, 2012

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-20-2012 12:40 PM

The title probably caught your eye.  ”V6, that must be a typo, but I’m curious anyway.”  No mistake, my friend — this is one of only a few completed V6 swapped Miatas in the world.  The V6 is a very lightly modified 2.5L KL-DE (from the 626 and some other cars), putting out 180rwhp and 170rwtq in current trim.  The throttle response will spoil you in ways you’d never imagined, and the exhaust note is sublime.  You’ll find turbo cars for sale with more maximum power, but short of a full V8 swap you won’t find this much torque available on tap.  The car easily passes WA emissions with flying colors and starts right up on the coldest days.  This is a turnkey car, ready to drive away.

The car was originally created by Mark Snell, who put the original drivetrain in and was building the car for SSM autocross use.  I bought the car from him, intending to continue the SSM project, but decided to go with an SC 1.8 for my SSM project and decided to just convert this to a street car.  I’ve spent the last year turning it back into a great cruiser, and I can easily declare my efforts a success.  I drive the car into the city fairly often, can leave it at the airport parking lot for a week, and know that it will always start in the morning.  It also drives straight to an autocross, is a hoot to drive as it sits, then you drive home with the top down.  It’d be a great start to a new streetable SSM build (throw in a built high compression 2.7 version of this motor) or just drive it as is and autocross for fun sometimes (what I’m doing with it).

Facts/Mods:
* 1992 Chassis
* 156k miles
* ABS
* Manual Steering
* Recently installed brand new later-style top with glass window
* Kenwood KDC-X994 Head Unit with Bluetooth (that you can even hear/use while driving) and Infinity Reference Speakers
* 2.5L KL-DE V6 motor with KL-ZE pistons
* Autronic SMC Engine Management System
* Zeitronix ZT-3 wideband O2 sensor (installed and connected to EMS)
* MSD DIS-4 Ignition System
* Custom cooling system with fully working heater controls
* Extensively modified KL-ZE intake manifold
* Custom headers and exhaust, including swappable cat section (comes with cat section and “test pipe”)
* Stock 5 speed Miata transmission with an FC RX-7 bellhousing and starter
* Lightweight aluminum flywheel, 4-puck ACT clutch
* 1.8 (“big”) rear differential, with a Torsen and 4.1 rear end, with Energy Suspension bushings in it
* Tein FLEX 16-step adjustable coilovers
* Racing Beat Front Swaybar
* 17×8 Rota Torque wheels with almost new 245/35/17 Toyo R1-R tires
* Recently corner-weighted and aligned (and set ride height)
* Wilwood brake proportioning valve
* Frame rail reinforcement kit installed
* Sparco Steering Wheel

I have a pretty stupid amount of money and time invested in the car, but I’ve decided to trying to focus on the SSM car build, and having two simultaneous custom miatas is getting a bit ridiculous on my poor wallet, so I’m putting the street car up for sale.  It’s hard to price something like this, but I’ll start with asking $16,000 and see what people think about that.  I (and the car) live in Redmond, WA, and I work from home, so I’m available almost any time of day for car viewings.  PM, post, or Email with any questions or interest.

1992 Honda Civic, Fully Prepped FSP

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-19-2012 10:08 PM

1992 Honda Civic, Fully Prepped FSP Race Car. Took 3rd at the 2011 SCCA Pro Finale and 4th at SCCA Nationals. Took 1st and 2nd place wins at every Tour and Pro in 2011.

This car was one of Grassroots Motorsports project cars. Originally built for ST and I ran it that way for a year until I got the Rcomp itch. I will include all the GRM issues the car was in.

I spent three years, and countless hours,  on the FSP build for this car. It can win Nationals, but due to work and family obligations I can’t make it this year. I will only sell this car to someone who will continue to run it in autocross, either in FSP or move it up to SMF. I will also give someone a better deal on the car if they would keep me as a co-driver.

The car is updated and backdated to make it as light as possible per the rules. The sunroof is removed and capped, and all parts have been replaced to make it a VX model with a Si motor. It still has power steering and the AC is COMPLETELY removed. Almost every part on this car is new. I feel like I have replaced everything.

Engine:

-New rebuilt motor right before Nationals last year. Overbore and tweaked to the extent of the rules.

-Head is port matched 1” in per rules.

-Block and head are milled to spec per rules.

-Hondata S100 chipped ECU and dyno tuned by Pure Tuning in Toledo OH.

-Edelbrock Intake Manifold

-B18 throttle body (coolant lines blocked off)

-Unorthodox racing crank pulley

-ACT Clutch and Flywheel

-Rebuilt (Si) Transmission in 2010 with Quaife LSD

-Poly Motor Mounts

-OEM radiator with Mishimoto fan and fan shroud.

-Gates Racing coolant hoses

-Custom built and dyno tuned Vibrant short ram intake, with heat shield and covered in DEI gold cool tape.

-DC 4-1 header and cat delete.

-Full custom Vibrant aluminum exhaust system with Vibrant aluminum mufflers. 93db at nationals, sounds good too.

Suspension

KW Competition 2Way coilovers (These are not the V3 or the Clubsport) These coilovers are a one off custom built racing coilover from KW. I have 4 pairs of springs to go with the car for different tuning setups. Independent adjustable rebound and compression dampening shortened shock bodies to get optimal shock stroke when lowering the suspension. They have the pillow ball top hats too but I only use them in the rear.

Skunk2 Pro front upper control arms

SPC rear upper control arms

Poly and Delran bushings have replaced all OEM bushings.

New Wheel Bearings front and rear

Extended wheel studs up front.

The car was aligned and corner balanced just before nationals.

Wheels

Pair of BBS 13X10, extremely light and expensive wheels. Bought in 2011

4 Compmotive 13X9 wheels (Formerly on Jason Tipples FSP Civic)

A stack of used to lightly used Hoosier A6 tires. Probably two and a half sets (I will have to check)

4 steely wheels to get it on a trailer or drive to an event.

Interior:

Recaro Profi and Profi XL seats, also have an extra Sparco sprint seat I will throw in.

Sparco Camlock race harness on drivers side. Lap belt for front seat.

Sparco steering wheel and hub.

Vibrant Carbon Fiber Shift knob

OEM radio delete plate

All speakers removed

B&M short throw shifter

Chassis: The chassis has about 170k on it but it is perfectly clean, not a spot of rust, and every nut and bolt comes off with no extra work.

The body was repainted in 2010 in my garage, but because it was my first time prepping a car for paint, the front bumper and hood is starting to chip pretty bad. At least these parts are easy to remove from the car for a respray. The car is now silver but used to be a red oxide primer the GRM did for the rat ride look. The roof is covered with a flat black vinyl.

Brakes:

Rear disc brake conversion

Brembo front and rear rotors

Hawk HP Plus front pads (new in 2011)

Hawk HPS rear pads (lots of life left)

Russell SS brake lines front and rear

New front calipers

Rear calipers were new when GRM had the car and did the rear disc conversion.

New master cylinder

Lots of extra parts to go with the car and know I’m forgetting a lot of stuff that is done to the car, there is just so much to list. I want $10,000 for everything and will negotiate a better deal if someone is willing to give me a codrive in this car. I won’t be able to make it to Nationals this year but will be back next. I will help whoever buys it, because I want this car to win.

You can call me at two four eight, nine seven four six zero zero three. Or email me at mcnam1bm at Hotmail. Pictures can be emailed upon request or the car is easy to find on the web. Either FSP 173, 73, 198, 0r 98.

Thanks

Brian McNamara

1995 Mazda Miata R – E Stock

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-18-2012 9:09 PM

Needing to sell my car to help fund my business.  It’s a great car and a blast to drive.  Asking $7500 for everything.  Will do less if you want less.  PM if interested or any questions.

1995 Mazda Miata R- Package
Approx 137k miles

Set up for ES.
Car has Koni 30 Series Double Adjustable Shocks.
FatCat Motorsports Bumpstops.
SSR Wheels
Drop in K&N Filter
Racing Beat Front Sway Bar
AWR Sway Bar Mounts
Borla Exhaust (also have turn down for when exhaust is removed)
Thrush Glass Pack (helped to pass sound with exhaust removed)
Hawk HP+ Rear Pads
Very light car.  No power steering or power brakes.  Manual windows. No A/C.

Extras that come with car:
Tire Trailer with toolbox
Set of BBS Wheels
At least 2 sets of OEM Miata Wheels
1 Brand New Set of HOOSIERS
A few more sets of used Hoosiers
Many Many other extra parts for the car.

Bad:
The car is not a show car.  It has many dings and paint is in poor shape.  Also a little bit of rust in the usual Miata area.
We were also getting some wheel spin in the car last year and have been told by many that the Torsen that supposively doesn’t go bad is bad.  I still race it as is.

The Good:
It’s a MIATA.       You can win in this car.  Set up ready to go with new sticker Hoosiers.  This car is mechanically sound.  I wouldn’t be scared to drive cross country in it.

Here is the thread for the car when I bought it.    – http://www.sccaforums.com/forums/forumid/63/postid/43762/scope/posts#43762

1991 CSP/DP Miata For Sale

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

This was posted on SCCA Forums at 04-17-2012 11:22 AM

I’m the 3rd owner of this ’91 Mazda Miata in its present configuration. Originally built by a NASCAR mechanic for track days, mountain climbs, and autocross. 1st and 2nd owners live in the Carolinas. I bought the car 10/09 and have only autocrossed it about 10 times running both CSP, and DP in a stripped down configuration. The car has had several wins in DP and a few TTD’s and 1 win in CSP to help me win the Martin Sports Car Club Points Championship in 2010. The car won DP at the FL State Championship in 2011 with an incorrect alignment for the tires I was running. It has an SCCA logbook.  Car is located in Orlando, FL.

$7300 or may trade.
